Drop in Meditation Classes in Houston, Montrose, The Heights and The Woodlands

Each class consists of guided meditation, a talk on an aspect of meditation and buddhist thought, and an opportunity to discuss and ask questions. Great for beginners as well as those with some experience. Classes are self-contained so you can drop in to any individual class. Everyone is welcome! A great opportunity to learn how to meditate and to integrate a meditation practice into your daily life. Meditation classes for everyone.

Teachings and guided meditations to help you have less stress, more meaning and joy, no matter what you are doing or who you are with.

Everyone is welcome.  No experience is necessary.

December 9 – Mantra Recitation

December 16 – Compassionate Heart. Joyful Heart.

No class on December 23 and 30.  Classes resume on January 6.

$12 per class, pay at the door. We are a 501(c)3 non profit org.

OUR TEACHER

nordensqaure-lightenedGen Kelsang Norden is a senior ordained teacher of Modern Buddhism. She was requested by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche to teach at Kadampa Meditation Center in Houston. Ordained as a Buddhist nun in 1994, Gen Norden has been teaching Buddhism and meditation in the US and the UK for over 25 years. We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to enjoy the precious dharma of Modern Buddhism with such an experienced practitioner.


FAQS Do I have to be a Buddhist to benefit from meditation? No. Anyone can learn basic meditation and experience the benefits that come from having a peaceful mind. At KMC Houston, we respect all people and are happy to help anyone, regardless of whether they subscribe to another faith, or to none.

Do I need to have experience in meditation or Buddhism to attend the classes? No. All you need is the wish to improve yourself and the quality of your life.

What do I need to bring to class? Nothing in particular, just yourself; though you can bring a pen and notepad if you want to take notes.

How should I dress for class? Dress in the best representation of yourself!

Do I need to bring a yoga mat or anything like that? No. Chairs are provided.
