Dear Friend of Kadampa Meditation Center Houston,
We have a special year end giving request along with some great news!
It is an exciting time for Kadampa Meditation Center (KMC) Houston. Since we moved our classes to Montrose we have seen attendance grow at our classes with many returning participants. The attendance at the special Public Talk by our National Spiritual Director Gen-la Rigpa earlier this year was also very encouraging and lots of new people were exposed to meditation and Modern Buddhism.
As a result of this great growth and community development, we have been given permission to explore the feasibility of establishing a permanent Meditation Center here in Houston with dedicated Center building and with Gen Norden as our full-time Resident Teacher!
There will be many ways in which you can get involved with this project – more info to come and please keep checking in with us and let us know if there are specific ways in which you would like to participate. We are a 501(c)3 non profit organization, and run by a volunteers.
For this new Center project to go ahead we are hoping to raise sponsorship in the following ways:
One time donations towards new Center setup costs
Sponsorship towards Resident Teacher basic living stipend and accommodation – or finding accommodation if you can help with that.
Becoming a monthly member
Increasing monthly membership to become a benefactor or sponsor
If you are able and would like to contribute in any of these ways, please let us know directly at class,
Or simply email our Admin Rusty Smith at [email protected] with how you would like to donate and your contact information, and we will follow up with you.
Any gift, regardless of its size, is a significant gift! All donations are tax deductible. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
We would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported KMC Houston in any way – from purchasing an item in our bookstore, to making a donation, to attending a meditation class, or recommending the Center to a friend.
KMC Houston is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization that completely depends on the generosity of people who attend our classes and events, become members, or support as monthly donors. Through establishing KMC Houston, we are enabling ourselves to better serve the people of Houston who seek refuge in their busy modern lives. KMC Houston is also dedicated to bringing peace and happiness to the world and to removing suffering through offering the methods of meditation and modern Buddhism. By making a donation and helping people find the methods of developing inner peace, you are directly contributing to the potential for world peace, now and for generations to come.
KMC Houston is part of the New Kadampa Tradition – International Kadampa Buddhist Union (IKBU). Founded by the internationally renowned Buddhist Master Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche, the IKBU has over 1200 centers and branches in over 40 different countries. Geshe-la, as he is affectionately known by his students, is primarily responsible for the worldwide revival of Kadampa Buddhism in our time.
Wishing you a happy, healthy and peaceful 2020!
